George A. King III of the New York Post reports the Phillies and Yankees have had talks in recent days of acquiring catcher Austin Romine. Romine is currently in competition with John Ryan Murphy for back up to Brian McCann and is out of minor league options. While Cameron Rupp, the current favorite to back up Carlos Ruiz, is having a fine spring the Phillies are thin on catching and the acquisition of Romine would certainly be a fit. Romine has spent parts of three seasons from 2011-2014 in the Bronx but has mostly been in Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes Barre handling the bulk of the catching.
