Here is some more information on Phillies outfielder Domonic Brown and the buzz around the Winter Meetings that the Phillies would be open to trading Brown.
Jayson Stark of ESPN says that a team that inquired did not really like their prospects of acquiring Brown:
A team that asked #Phillies about Domonic Brown reports they "didn't seem enthused" about trading him. Looking for 2 or 3 young players back

The caveat could be that the Phillies were not all that interested in what that particular team had to trade the Phillies. If Amaro is able to get two or three young players back for Brown, then why not trade Brown? Teams have to give value to get value, so of course that is all that the Phillies would do in this instance. They are not trying to dump Brown.
