Even if the Philadelphia Phillies cannot sign Manny Machado this offseason, it appears the club will still make at least one more addition to its infield depth chart.
Not only are the Phillies interested in Mike Moustakas, but according to Jon Heyman, they are one of five "in" on veteran utility infielder Josh Harrison, who is a "great and versatile defender."

Harrison, 31, is a two-time All-Star and eight-year veteran that has played all of his 842 career games with the Pittsburgh Pirates since debuting in May 2011. A career .277/.317/.408 hitter, the Cincinnati, Ohio, native has logged 154 doubles, 27 triples, 52 home runs, 269 RBI, 75 stolen bases and 120 walks spanning 3,012 plate appearances.
Harrison has played second base, third base, right field, left field, and shortstop during his career; he was teammates with new Phillies outfielder Andrew McCutchen from 2011-2017. The Pirates declined Harrison's $10.5 million option for 2019 on October 31, and instead elected to pay him a $1 million buyout after slashing just .250/.293/.363 in 344 at-bats in 2018.
NBC Sports' Ashley Varela writes:
Part of his decline stemmed from multiple injuries, as he missed nearly seven weeks of the club’s 2018 campaign with a left hand fracture, shoulder blade discomfort, and a lingering hamstring strain.
Those don’t figure to be pressing concerns in 2019, however, and there’s no doubt that the veteran infielder was a solid presence in the Pirates’ lineup when healthy.
Along with the Phillies, Heyman lists the Los Angeles Dodgers, San Francisco Giants, Los Angeles Angels, and Tampa Bay Rays as other teams currently interested in the free agent. The Milwaukee Brewers, Washington Nationals, Texas Rangers, and Cincinnati Reds were also reported to have interest in late December, according to Heyman.
Given the Phillies' current infield depth that includes Rhys Hoskins, Jean Segura, Cesar Hernandez, Scott Kingery and Maikel Franco, adding Harrison would likely complement a trade of Hernandez and/or Franco.
