Nearly 670 days have passed since Philadelphia Phillies 16th-ranked prospect Roman Quinn appeared in a big league game.
The 25-year-old, switch-hitting outfielder will reportedly get the chance to break that streak as soon as this weekend, as he will be recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley, according to The Morning Call's Tom Housenick. Phillies manager Gabe Kapler previously called Quinn joining the Phillies on Friday "a possibility," when they adjust their 25-man roster to add a bench player, per philly.com's Matt Breen.

Quinn, 25, underwent surgery in May to repair a torn ligament in his right middle finger, suffered while diving into a base. Including Thursday evening, Quinn has appeared in five rehab games since July 19 — two with Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

The Phillies view highly of Quinn. As NBC Sports Philadelphia's Jim Salisbury notes, the club "considered carrying him as an extra man on the Opening Day roster," but opted to send him to Triple-A for regular at-bats in favor of Scott Kingery. The Phillies are now hoping the Port St. Joe, Florida, native can be a "bench weapon as a runner and defender," notes The Athletic's Matt Gelb.
Quinn slashed .263/.373/.333 with four doubles, six RBI, eight walks and five stolen bases in 15 big-league games (69 plate appearances) in 2016. Quinn has called the experience "pretty special" and everything he dreamed of as a little kid.
Sure enough, Quinn will get to re-live that dream as a reality as soon as this weekend for the first-place 2018 Phillies.
