PHILADELPHIA — Despite agreeing to a three-year, $27 million contract with unrestricted free agent Jerryd Bayless on Friday, the Philadelphia 76ers reportedly are not finished in looking to add guard depth to their roster for the upcoming 2016-17 season.
The latest to be linked to the franchise — which has won just 47 games over the past three seasons — is unrestricted free agent Rajon Rondo, according to a late Friday evening report by Marc J. Spears, senior NBA writer for ESPN's The Undefeated.
The Spears report came two hours before Alex Kennedy, managing editor of Basketball Insiders, tweeted to 'keep an eye on Philadelphia,' in that they are 'making some huge offers to notable veterans.'
Keep an eye on Philadelphia. They're making some HUGE offers to notable veterans, in hopes that they can land one or two. They want to win.

Outside of Rondo and 16-year veteran guard Jamal Crawford, is not clear what other 'notable' player the Sixers have shown interest in. One indicator that Crawford is considering signing with the Sixers is his latest follows on Twitter: No. 1 overall pick Ben Simmons out of Louisiana State University and rookie big man Joel Embiid. Crawford also recently liked a tweet sent to the three-time NBA Sixth Man of the Year from a fan, describing him as "the perfect fit for the Sixers."
Rondo has led the league in assists three times, 2011-12, 2012-13 and 2015-16, and steals once, 2009-10. He has been named twice to both the NBA All-Defensive First Team (2009-10 and 2010-11) and the NBA All-Defensive Second Team (2008-09 and 2011-12).
Six-plus seasons after leading the Boston Celtics to their 17th championship in franchise history in 2008, he was traded to the Dallas Mavericks on Dec. 18, 2014, in a five-player transaction that included St. Joseph's University alumnus guard Jameer Nelson headed to Boston.
A four-time NBA All-Star, Rondo started in 474 games with the Celtics from 2006 to 2014, averaging 11.0 points and 8.5 assists per game. He started in 72 games with the Sacramento Kings last season, who finished eight games behind the Houston Rockets for the eighth and final playoff seed in the Western Conference.
In 118 combined games since with the Mavericks and Kings, Rondo is averaging 32.7 minutes per game, 10.9 points per game and 9.7 assists per game.
Other teams mentioned by Spears to have interest in the Louisville, Kentucky, native are the Sacramento Kings, Chicago Bulls and New Orleans Pelicans.
