Prior to the Sixers loss to Boston on Saturday night, an interesting report surfaced. According to Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Phoenix Suns reached out to the Sixers and offered them a trade for point guard T.J. McConnell. The Sixers quickly turned the offer down, keeping T.J in Philadelphia for now.
Multiple sources confirm that the #Sixers turned down the #PhoenixSuns trade offer for @TJMcConnell. The #Suns offered a second-round pick and Sixers were like βNah, buddy.β

McConnell, 26, is in his fourth season with the Sixers after signing as an undrafted free agent out of Arizona in 2015. McConnell has always been one of Brett Brown's favorite guys off the bench as the energetic guard always injects a spark into the lineup whenever he touches the court. Last season, T.J. averaged 6.3 points and 4.0 assists in 22.4 minutes per game and played had a successful run against Boston in the playoffs.
This probably won't be the last offer that the Sixers receive on McConnell. They already have Ben Simmons and Markelle Fultz as guys that excel with the ball in their hands in the point guard position, so that would tell you that T.J. would get much less playing time this season. That being said, the 26-year-old played 22 minutes in the Sixers season opener in Boston, scoring four points to go along with three assists.
