Could there finally be some smoke to indicate a fire burning with the Phillies and free agent outfielder Josh Hamilton? Glen Macnow of 94 WIP FM tweeted that his broadcast partner Anthony Gargano (who does not have twitter) says that an offer has been made:
My radio partner, Anthony Gargano, has it from a good source that the Phils have offered Josh Hamilton a three-year contract.

Gargano had a career as a newspaper journalist prior to doing radio and may have some good sources still.
This is the first direct mention of the Phillies talking to Josh Hamilton. It remains to be seen if three years is enough to get it done or if the dollars are what he wants, but after recent speculation that the Phillies could do something "big", it's plausible. Stay tuned.
