A deal with cornerback Byron Maxwell to Philadelphia is nearly done and the Eagles are also working hard on Devin McCourty. Running back Frank Gore will also reportedly be joining the Eagles. Meanwhile, LeSean McCoy has a new contract with Buffalo and Todd Herremans is heading to the Colts.
Behind all the action going on today is the state of Jeremy Maclin re-signing with the Eagles. Earlier this week, Jeff McLane of Philly.com tweeted that a deal between the two sides was not close and that Maclin was beginning to get nibbles. Last night, McLane updated us on Twitter, saying that the Eagles and Maclin were still not agreeing on annual pay, with the Eagles offering $9 million and Maclin requesting $11 million.
Sunday morning around 9:30, Charles Robinson of Yahoo! Sports tweeted that Maclin returning to the Eagles is still "very possible". Robinson mentioned that the Jets were interested, but they traded for Brandon Marshall.
While Maclin is hoping to get $11 million per year, that may not happen, especially since Randall Cobb re-signed with the Packers this week for four years at $40 million. Cobb was known to have more lucrative contracts on the table, but rather took a hometown discount to stay with Green Bay.
Will Maclin do the same for the Eagles? The March 10th deadline is just two days away and with talks still at a stalemate, it really isn't clear whether or not the Eagles and Maclin will agree on a new deal in that short period of time.
