Former NFL Doctor: Peters, Hicks likely have major injuries
By: Jesse Larch, Sports Talk Philly editor
The Eagles picked up a huge victory on Monday night football, but suffered two huge blows during that game.
The first came on the first drive of the game. Jordan Hicks dropped into coverage and soon dropped to the turf, as it appears that he re-injured his ankle – an injury that had caused him to leave the previous two games. Hicks made it to sideline and after an evaluation Hicks was carted to the locker room.
Dr. David J. Chao analyzed footage from the game and reported that he believes the injury could be an achilles rupture:
By video, worry for Achilles tendon rupture.
Hope not but looks that way for #JordanHickshttps://t.co/JKsDT4kT4Y https://t.co/olMBCkJbMb— David J. Chao, MD (@ProFootballDoc) October 24, 2017
Later on in the contest Jason Peters went down after Washington defensive lineman Ziggy Hood rolled up on Peters's leg. Peters was carted off.
Chao also analyzed film of Peters's injury and according to Chao, signs point towards Peters tearing both his ACL and MCL.
Speculating on video footage does not provide any concrete information, but Chao's background as a former NFL team physician does give him a frame of reference on injuries such as these.
The Eagles are expected to update the status of Peters and Hicks later today.
