Wednesday night was a banner night for Philadelphia Flyers forward Zac Rinaldo. Rarely does the fourth line score a goal. Rinaldo scored his first in the Flyers 3-1 win over the Montreal Canadiens.
Just hours after, Rinaldo will be out for six weeks with a high ankle sprain, the team announced on Thursday.
Rinaldo has one goal and one assist and had played in all 44 games for the Flyers this season. Rinaldo also leads the team in penalty minutes with 101 and hits with 135.
According to numerous reports, Rinaldo was walking without a limp following the Flyers win last night, so the injury news comes as a surprise.
The Flyers currently have a call into the league to expand the roster by one. It will likely be a call-up from the AHL. Players currently with Adirondack with NHL experience include Tye McGinn and Jason Akeson.
