The Flyers are preparing to return to the ice on Tuesday night against the Arizona Coyotes. It will be their first game since last Tuesday's 3-2 overtime win over the Penguins.

In that victory, Zac Rinaldo spent most of the game in the locker room. His hit from behind on Kris Letang warranted a boarding major, a game misconduct and a disciplinary hearing on Monday.

The NHL Department of Player Safety announced an eight-game suspension for Rinaldo on Monday evening as a result of Rinaldo's actions in Tuesday's game.

Letang left the game after the hit and did not return, though he may be able to play in Pittsburgh's game on Tuesday against the Winnipeg Jets.

This is the third suspension in Rinaldo's NHL career. Rinaldo was suspended four games last April and two games in 2012.

The Flyers have called up Ryan White from the Lehigh Valley Phantoms in wake of Rinaldo's suspension. White missed most of the season with injury, but had recently returned to the Phantoms.

White has one goal and two assists in 11 games with the Phantoms. He was a -3 in that time with 39 penalty minutes.

Rinaldo will be eligible to return to the Flyers lineup on Feb. 17 when the Flyers host the Columbus Blue Jackets.
