Aaron Rodgers carved up the Eagles defense like a Thanksgiving turkey — four days after Thanksgiving.
The Green Bay Packers were riding a four-game losing streak entering Monday night's game in Philadelphia, and they put it to bed with a good rebound performance as the Eagles defense failed to get off the field and mistakes and penalties hurt them throughout the game.
The end result was a 27-13 defeat to the Packers, effectively ending their season by dropping them to 5-6.
Scoring Summary
1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | T | |
Packers | 7 | 7 | 3 | 10 | 27 |
Eagles | 7 | 3 | 3 | 0 | 13 |
Both teams got on the board on their first possession of the game. The Packers started with a 10-play, 75-yard drive capped by a 12-yard touchdown pass from Rodgers to Davante Adams.
The Eagles responded with an 11-play, 81-yard drive, perfectly orchestrated and capped off with a scramble by Carson Wentz for a one-yard touchdown, his first NFL rushing touchdown.
The Packers came right back with another 75-yard touchdown drive. This one came complete on a perfect pass from Rodgers to Adams from 20 yards out.
The Eagles managed a late 48-yard field goal by Caleb Sturgis before the half to go into the locker room down by four.
The Eagles started the second half with the ball, but after advancing past midfield, a pass by Wentz sailed and was intercepted by Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, ending a potential scoring threat. The Packers completed a 50-yard pass from Rodgers to Adams on the first play of the drive, leading to a field goal from 33 yards by Mason Crosby to extend the lead to seven.
The Eagles had another drive stall after advancing past midfield, settling for a 50-yard field goal by Sturgis to cut the lead back to four.
The Eagles appeared to get the defensive stop they needed on the ensuing drive, but a roughing the passer penalty on Fletcher Cox extended it for the Packers. They advanced 54 yards after the penalty, getting their first rushing touchdown of the season from a running back as Aaron Ripkowski scored from a yard out.
The Packers iced the game with a 32-yard field goal by Crosby with just under two minutes remaining in the game.
