Exactly one month from Saturday, the BBWAA voting results for the 2019 Hall of Fame class will be announced. Thirty-five candidates make up the 2019 ballot, one of which is the late former Philadelphia Phillies and Toronto Blue Jays ace, Roy Halladay.
To enter the Hall, candidates must receive at least 75 percent of the vote; and with an estimated 412 ballots to be cast, 309 votes are necessary to reach the mark.
The results of over 20 percent (or 87) of the estimated 412 ballots have already been made public, and Halladay appears to be well on his way to enter the Hall of Fame in the first year of his eligibility. According to www.bbhoftracker.com, Halladay has received 81 of 87 votes (93.1 percent) among public and anonymous ballots, which projected out would be 383 votes.
Mariano Rivera (87 votes, 100 percent), Edgar Martinez (80 votes, 92 percent), Mike Mussina (73 votes, 83.9 percent), and Curt Schilling (66 votes, 75.9 percent) would also enter the Hall, if their current projections hold true for the remaining 325 ballots.
Halladay passed away on Nov. 7, 2017, when his plane crashed into the Gulf of Mexico off the Florida coast. The eight-time All-Star and two-time Cy Young Award winner pitched in 16 seasons from 1998 to 2013.
