Phillies President David Montgomery has not said very much since the dismissal of Charlie Manuel as Phillies manager last month. Plenty of fans since then have placed blame on the Phillies' General Manager Ruben Amaro, Jr. But Montgomery is not considering any changes. He almost appears to have missed the question at first posed by The Philadelphia Inqurier's Matt Gelb when asked about Amaro's status with the team:
Montgomery, 67, said Amaro is the executive who will lead a renaissance. "Oh," he said, "Ruben is our general manager." He cited Amaro's willingness to consider a variety of opinions before making a decision.
In addition to the comments on the General Manager, Montgomery answered a variety of questions, including his thoughts on Charlie Manuel, the construction of the team, and more.
Gelb posted the full Q&A on his blog, separately from his Inqurier piece. That is worth a read, too.
