Ruben Amaro: Phillies “Going With What We Got”

As the offseason winds down and the Phillies inch closer to Spring Training, the Phillies' outfield remains a pointed debate. Despite many reports that the Phillies are looking to adds veteran outfielder, Phillies General Manager Ruben Amaro Jr. is singing a different tune today. Quoted in a Philly.com blog post today, Amaro said that the Phillies are "likely going with what we've got".

Money could keep the Phillies from adding a big name now; the piece said that Amaro is keeping the door open for a low-risk, high-reward option that could come in the form of a minor-league deal with a Spring Training invitation. Last year the Phillies got Juan Pierre in such a way for a bargain price.

Domonic Brown and Darin Ruf patiently wait and hope for a chance.
