In the fourth inning of the Phillies – Braves game on Saturday, Phillies first baseman Ryan Howard reached another career milestone, hitting the 300th home run of his career. Howard sits alone behind Mike Schmidt's 548 for career home runs as a Phillie. Here are a number of tidbits surrounding the home run today:
- The home run was the second-fastest any player has reached home run number 300.
- Howard has hit a home run four games in a row. He did so also in 2006 and 2007.
- Three of those four home runs are against left-handed pitching.
- Howard now has 42 career home runs against the Atlanta Braves.
