Jon Heyman tweeted that former Phillies pitcher Ryan Madson is working on the comeback after two seasons of being on the shelf (last season in Anaheim, the year before in Cincinnati). Madson hasn't thrown a pitch in the big leagues since the 9th inning of Game 5 of the 2011 NLDS in which the Cardinals eliminated the Phillies for what seems like two consecutive seasons. He has since undergone a Tommy John Surgery which he has had a hard time coming back from.
There was some rumblings about Boston having some interest in him a few days ago that I read but I wouldn't be shocked to see the Phillies go there either. In a season of uncertainty for both parties it would make sense for the Phils to gamble on Madson and it would make sense for Madson to come back to a club he's familiar with. This is assuming that all the raw feelings of the 2011 off season have passed on.
