In the opening minutes of Sunday night's game between the Flyers and Red Wings, Ryan White laid a high hit on Tomas Jurco. White was given a five-minute major for targeting the head and ejected from the game.
The Flyers went on to kill the penalty and win the game, 2-1, in a shootout. As a result of the match penalty, the hit was automatically going to be reviewed.
However, after review, the NHL is not going to give supplemental discipline to White for the hit, meaning he will be eligible to play on Tuesday when the Flyers host the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Video of the hit is below.
White has four goals and three assists in 34 games with the Flyers.
A pending suspension for the hit would have opened the door for Jordan Weal, acquired for Vincent Lecavalier and Luke Schenn in a trade with the Los Angeles Kings, to make his Flyers debut. That could still happen on Tuesday, but would require another player to be a healthy scratch.
The Flyers and Maple Leafs get things underway from Wells Fargo Center at 7 p.m. on Tuesday night.
