With the recent transfer of Rudy Ford to the injured reserve, the Eagle had just three safeties on the roster and none on the practice squad.
In a move to address that, the Eagles added Chris Johnson to the practice squad.

Johnson fills the spot vacated by Greg Ward’s promotion.
Johnson played for an FCS Division II North Alabama team that recently transitioned to Division I.
In the first year of the school’s transition to Division I (the 2018 season), Johnson recorded two interceptions and 47 tackles.
He has height and athleticism working for him, but he is a project. The Eagles could bank on bringing him back to camp next season and look for him to be a contributor then.
For now, he provides depth and an extra man in practice.
Johnson spent camp with the Texans this offseason and was on their practice squad for part of the season.
