According to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, 31-year-old running back Frank Gore is 'expected' to sign a three-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles, with $7.5 million guaranteed over the first two seasons.
Listed as 5' 9" and 215 lbs, Gore has a similar stature to former all-time leading rusher Eagle, LeSean McCoy, 26, who is listed as 5' 10" and 215 lbs. Like McCoy, Gore also held the all-time rushing record for the former team that drafted him at 11,073 yards, 3,729 greater than Joe Perry's 7,344.
McCoy was traded on Tuesday to the Buffalo Bills for linebacker Kiko Alonso. Today, he signed a five-year contract worth $40 million with his new team
The Miami, Florida-native out of the University of Miami had earned five Pro Bowl selections with San Francisco after being drafted 65th overall in the 2005 NFL Draft: 2006, 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2013.
The Eagles' signing of Gore, who turns 32 in May, is expected to be just one of the many moves made by Chip Kelly and the Eagles. In fact, one of these moves occurred earlier today, as it was announced that former Seattle Seahawks' cornerback Byron Maxwell has reportedly reached an agreement with Philadelphia.
This is an important offseason for Kelly, who will be entering already his third season at the helm of the franchise. Along with his staff, he will seek to improve a team that lost five out of their last eight games after a 9-3 start to the 2014 season.
