Scott Laughton released from hospital, will not make trip to Washington

The Flyers offered an update on Scott Laughton's condition after a scary incident that saw the Flyers forward taken off the ice on a stretcher in Wednesday night's Game 4 win.

Laughton stayed at Jefferson Hospital overnight and was released on Thursday afternoon. The Flyers update said Laughton is doing well. Laughton will not make the trip to Washington for Game 5 and a further update will be provided in the coming days.

Laughton played in three games in the playoffs and was a minus-1 with no points. During the regular season, Laughton scored seven goals and added 14 assists for 21 points in 71 games.

Laughton's spot in the lineup from Game 4 will likely be taken by Pierre-Edouard Bellemare, who returns from a one-game suspension. Bellemare has no points and is a minus-1 in three games in the series. Bellemare scored seven goals and added seven assists for 14 points in 74 games.

The Flyers face the Capitals in Game 5 in Washington on Friday night at 7 p.m.
