It is just the second day of full practices for the Phillies, but the team received more bad news on the injury front on Tuesday.
Meghan Montemurro of The Athletic reported Tuesday morning that veteran utility man Sean Rodriguez, who was signed just over 10 days ago, has suffered both a meniscus tear and a knee sprain.
Sean Rodriguez has a tear in his right meniscus and a sprain in his right knee. He will receive treatment the next few days and allow the swelling to subside. TBD if he will have surgery to fix the meniscus. He was in camp to compete for a bench spot. #Phillies

Rodriguez, who had previously played with Andrew McCutchen in Pittsburgh, spent parts of the past 11 seasons in the Major Leagues. Over that time, he played for four different teams and put up a slash line of .226/.300/.380 while playing all around the diamond.
2018 was not a good season for Rodriguez as he appeared in 66 games slashing only .167/.277/.313 in his second stint with the Pirates.
His injuries will likely keep him sidelined for at least a month, possibly more if they require surgery. While it was unlikely he made the Phillies roster out of camp to begin with, he will almost certainly start the season on the Lehigh Valley roster now, even if he is placed on the injured list.
When veteran outfielder Will Middlebrooks broke his leg in Spring Training last year, he was listed on the Lehigh Valley roster all season despite his never coming off of the disabled list.
