It's a given that either Ben Simmons or Brandon Ingram will be the Sixers top selection in next months draft. But with two other selections in the draft via the Heat (24th overall) and the Thunder (26th overall), the team has an opportunity to add even more talent around the first selection. Without digging too deep, here are seven prospects who could fit into the future for the Sixers:
DeAndre Bembry: Does everything on the court, plays on the wing with defensive versatility, should translate to NBA game quickly. Any improvement on his jumper and he could be a excellent bargain with one of the late picks.
Isaia Cordinier: Super athletic with the ability to finish at the rim and shoot from deep. Young and unproven, but the upside makes him a worthy selection this late.
Tyler Ulis: If Ulis was bigger in size he'd easily be a lottery pick. Still, he's a do it all type of point guard who doesn't make mistakes and has an excellent feel for the game. Good value if he's still around this late.
Juan Hernangomez: Classic stretch forward who could bring needed versatility and shooting to the team. International so there will be doubts, but ultimately has the skill-set and upside to find a NBA role.
Caris LaVert: Arguably a top talent in the draft. Just too many significant injuries to take early. But this late, he has the potential to be a steal. Can do everything on the court, and play 3 different positions. Just needs to stay on the court.
Gary Payton II: Age will hold him up from being taken higher, but could be worth a look late in the first round. Not the best playmaker but also not poor, needs to improve shooting, he does posses the ability to attack the rim at an elite level, and has the potential to be a terrific defensive minded point.
Patrick McCaw: A true upside player. Still very raw, still developing the ability to create, but does get to the rim at a high level. Needs to trust himself more. Improving shooter. Could become a steady rotational wing down the line. Fair value late in the first round.
The Sixers will look for value and fit with the later picks, and with a bevy of options, they shouldn't have a difficult time deciding who can fit into their future plans. With less pressure due to where the picks fell, if the team does in fact hold on to them (don't rule out a trade); these picks could eventually be looked back on as a huge stepping stone in the teams progression.
