An MRI on McCoy's hamstring revealed that there was "no separation from the bone," according to Bills head coach Rex Ryan.
Despite the injury, the 27-year-old is expected to be ready for week one when the Bills take on the Indianapolis Colts, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
With the McCoy injury, the Bills have now had their top-five running backs get hurt, including veterans Fred Jackson, Bobbie Dixon, and former Eagle Bryce Brown.
The Bills are now left with just three healthy options at running back: undrafted rookies Bronson Hill and Ricky Seale, and Notre Dame product Cierre Wood, who the Bills signed Wednesday to add depth.
