PHILADELPHIA — Philadelphia 76ers CEO Scott O'Neil joined CNBC's Squawk Box with Becky Quick and Joe Kernen Monday morning to discuss the team becoming the first to sign a jersey patch sponsorship deal in American professional sports history.
Starting in the 2017-18 season, the newly redesigned StubHub logo will appear on the front left of all Sixers' jerseys, opposite the Nike logo, the official oncourt apparel provider of the NBA.
"StubHub is an incredible partner," said O'Neil, joined on the show by StubHub CEO Scott Cutler. "They're leaders. They're endemic in the space, which is really helpful I think. So, you kind of get it when you see it. There's no better place to buy tickets than StubHub and so it fits. It would be different from Doritos if you had them on there, right?"
When asked by Kernen if he and the Sixers have their eyes on a 'high school Steph Curry somewhere,' O'Neil noted the NBA Draft Lottery, which takes place Tuesday evening.
"We have the best chance to get the number one pick, which would be really helpful."
