The NBA officially announced today that Minnesota Timberwolves rookie big man Karl-Anthony Towns is the 2015-16 Rookie of the Year. He received all 130 first place votes, becoming the fifth unanimous winner in NBA history. Towns led all rookies in scoring with 18.3 points per game and rebounding with 10.5 per game. He ranked second in blocks with 1.68 per game. Towns also tallied 51 double-doubles, good for third in the league. He was one of six players in the league to start all 82 games. With Andrew Wiggins having won the award in the season prior, the Timberwolves become the first team in 42 years to produce back-to-back Rookie's of the Year.

The Knicks Kristaps Porzingis placed second, Nikola Jokic of the Nuggets came in third, the Suns Devin Booker came in fourth and the Sixers Jahlil Okafor placed fifth.

Okafor was selected third overall in the 2015 draft by the Sixers and received three second place votes and 25 third place votes. The Duke product averaged 17.5 points and seven rebounds for the Sixers this season. Okafor's strong season was overshadowed at times by his off-court issues that included throwing punches outside of a Boston night club and going over 100 mph on the Ben Franklin Bridge. He missed the final chunk of games for the Sixers with a slight meniscus tear in his right knee.

The 76ers will find out their draft lottery fate on Tuesday night in New York. The team could potentially have four first-round picks if their top-3 protected pick from the Lakers conveys.
