On Friday, the Sixers announced they'd finally decided to fill their open roster spot, signing Christian Wood from their D-League affiliate to a 10-day contract. His time with the team will be short lived as the Sixers plan to bring on former Suns guard, Sonny Weems, and release Wood from the roster. The move will bring Philadelphia to the NBA's salary cap floor of $63 million.
Philadelphia plans to claim guard Sonny Weems off waivers and release forward Christian Wood (on 10 day), league sources tell The Vertical.

Before the claim Philadelphia was $2.6m below the floor. The 76ers will incur the $2.8m Weems cap hit but will only owe $660k in salary.

Weems, 29, has spent time with the Suns, Raptors and Nuggets after being drafted in the second round of the 2008 draft by the Bulls. This season, in 36 games with Phoenix, Weems averaged 2.5 points and 1.3 assists per game. He spent four years in Europe playing for Zalgiris (Lithuania) and CSKA Moscow (Russia). This is his first year back in the league since 2010-11.
Christian Wood played in 14 games for the Sixers earlier this season and averaged 3.6 points and 2.3 rebounds in 8.1 minutes per game.
