According to Bill Smith of Smith Sports, the Sixers have been said to have narrowed their possible selections down to two. Apparently the Sixers will be deciding between D’Angelo Russell out of Ohio State or Mario Hezonja, the Croatian guard who plays for Barcelona.
The Sixers are in need of a guard who can run the floor and also score the ball. Some experts have mocked Russell to the Sixers with the third pick, but this would be the first time I've heard Hezonja be rumored to go that high. A scenario could also play out where we see the Sixers take Russell at 3 and find a way to get back into the lottery to grab Hezonja.
One would hope that the Lakers don't select Russell before we have a shot to take him. That's a scenario where I could then see the Sixers taking Hezonja that early if they see that much in him. Us Sixers fans only have to hold our excitement over one more day to see how the draft will play out.
