The Sixers were set to be a part of a trade deadline deal that would have brought Joel Anthony and a future second-rounder to Philadelphia. The deal was voided, but the team had already waived JaKarr Sampson, leaving the Sixers with an open roster spot. Brett Brown mentioned last week that the Sixers weren't in a hurry to bring in someone, but it seems the time has come. Christian Wood of the Delaware 87ers will join the Sixers with both Sean Kilpatrick and Doug McRae on 10-day contracts with other teams.

Jake Pavorsky of Liberty Ballers tweets that it will be a 10-day contract. The Sixers waived Wood earlier this season to make room for Elton Brand, who has been serving as a veteran leader to the teams' young core of players. Wood played in 14 games and averaged 3.6 points and 2.3 rebounds in 8.1 minutes per game.
Wood has been playing with the Sixers D-League affiliate in Delaware. The 6-foot-10 forward is averaging 15.8 points per game on 51.7 percent shooting to go along with 8.8 rebounds in 26 games. He's coming off of a game in which he scored 45 points on 19-for-26 shooting against Canton while also grabbing 14 rounds. He had 29 points and nine rebounds in the game prior.
It's a bit of a head-scratcher as to why the Sixers would go with another big man over a guard. They already have Jahlil Okafor, Nerlens Noel, Jerami Grant, Carl Landry and Richaun Holmes sharing minutes, so it will be interesting to see if and how Wood fits in over his 10-day deal.
