Sixers to tip-off season with Wizards on ESPN

By Josh Liddick, Sports Talk Philly editor

With a game on Christmas Day and a trip out to London, it's only fitting that the Sixers get a chance to play on national television to open up the season.

It was originally reported by Tom Moore of the Courier Times and then backed up from Jessica Camerato of CSN and finally confirmed by the Sixers that they will be heading to DC to play the Wizards on ESPN on Wednesday October 18.

Last season, the Sixers gained the attention of the national media by their impressive 10-5 month of January and played the Rockets on ESPN in the middle of the month. That was the last of Joel Embiid, as he suffered his knee injury that put him out for the rest of the season.

The rest of the 2017-18 schedule has yet to be released, but it's a pretty good sign that the Sixers are starting the season off with a bang, getting more national attention.

It's seems only fitting that the rest of the puzzle pieces will only continue to fall into place.
