Tack another injury onto the list.
On Friday, Eagles guard and back-up center Stefen Wisniewski announced, via Twitter, that he had successful surgery on a torn ligament in his thumb.

A graduate of Penn State University, Wiz was originally acquired by the Eagles in free agency in the 2016 offseason. The offensive lineman was, and still is, an overlooked signing. After starting every game as the center for the Jaguars the previous season, Wisniewski signed with the Eagles and served as a back-up, starting only six games that season.
The Birds decided to re-sign Wiz to a three-year deal following that season – a vital move as he took over as the starting left guard in week four of the 2017 season. After taking over as the starting left tackle, Wiz became the piece that solidified the Eagles offensive line as the most elite unit in the league. While he missed games 14 and 15 due to injury, he started and finished all three playoff games, including the Super Bowl.
Wiz was benched following week four this season as the line was faltering, though Stefen did not seem to be the problem. Both Lane Johnson and Jason Peters were suffering from injuries at the time and their poor play stressed both sides of the line.
Fellow guard Brandon Brooks offered to play video games with his teammate while the two heal from their injuries, further showcasing the excellent locker room culture the Eagles have fostered.

While Brooks may be in danger of missing time early next season, Wisniewski should be good to go and would take over in case of Brooks’ absence early in 2019.
