The Philadelphia Eagles chances of winning the NFC East division increased after the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys lost their Week 8 games yesterday.
The Giants are now 4-4 overall after losing a shootout against the New Orleans Saints at the Superdome by the score of 52-49. Giants quarterback Eli Manning threw for six touchdown passes, and Saints quarterback Drew Brees put up seven touchdown passes.
The game was tied up at 49-49 in the late fourth quarter, but a face-mask penalty on Giants punter Brad Wing set up Saints kicker Kai Forbath with a game-winning 50-yard field goal at the end of regulation.
Going into yesterday's game against the Seattle Seahawks, the Cowboys were losers of four straight games without the duo of starting quarterback Tony Romo (broken clavicle) and wide receiver Dez Bryant (foot).
The Cowboys lost a close game at home by the score of 13-12. Quarterback Matt Cassle struggled in his second career start for Dallas, throwing 13-for-25 with 97 yards.
Bryant returned for his first start since Week 1, but wasn't very effective with Richard Sherman covering him. Bryant caught two passes for 12 yards on six targets.
At 2-5, the Cowboys have yet to win a game without the services of Romo.
The Washington Redskins, like the Eagles, are 3-4 overall and didn't play over the weekend.
The Redskins have to play at the unbeaten New England Patriots in Week 9.
The Eagles hope to get revenge on the Cowboys in Week 9, as they take a trip to Dallas to play on Sunday Night Football.
