Final: Mets 7, Phillies 0

WP:  Noah Syndergaard (2-2, 2.55 ERA) LP:  (1-4, 4.81ERA)

New York, NY – One imagines when he looks back on his career, Mets pitcher Noah Syndergaard may point to today as his true coming out.

The Phillies really did not have much of a chance against the rookie, Syndergaard, making his fourth big league start this afternoon. Through 7.1 scoreless innings, he held the Phillies to just six hits, striking out just as many with no walks. As if that wasn't enough, Syndergaard was a huge asset at the plate going 3-3 collecting his first RBI and his first home run on the same swing. It was definitely a game to remember for the young hurler who seems to have a great career ahead of him.

Things weren't nearly as pretty for the Phils. To his credit, Sean O' Sullivan took one for the team this afternoon and saved an overworked bullpen through 5.2 innings. The Mets hit him hard though, not just Syndergaard but Lucas Duda who had a two home run afternoon himself and a two run blast from Michael Cuddyer. O' Sullivan left in the 6th, surrendering 11 hits and 7 earned runs (with four home runs).

There is really nothing to write about offensively, save for Ben Revere and Grady Sizemore both having multi hit games. Jake Diekman and Jonathan Papelbon both got some scoreless work in late in the game, as they were among few relievers who haven't been worked too hard the past few days (Papelbon not pitching since the Colorado series).

Speaking of Colorado, the Rockies come to town on Friday at 7:05 to face Cole Hamels after a much needed day off for the Phillies and their fans.
