The Flyers’ eight-game homestand comes complete on Tuesday night as they look to build on Saturday’s win, taking on the Vegas Golden Knights. 

A pair of power-play goals in the third period proved to be the difference, as the Flyers held off the Vegas Golden Knights, 4-3, on Friday night, snapping a 10-game losing streak.

Friday’s game brings the Flyers to Vegas to face the Golden Knights, a team that has won three straight, as the Flyers try to avoid an 11-game losing streak.

For those who appreciate the fact that a player’s quality can’t be defined solely by numbers, Ivan Provorov’s performance on the ice backs it up. He’s not the indisputable best defensemen in the NHL, but he certainly didn’t deserve to be omitted from the NHL’s list of the top 20 defensemen for the 2019-20 season. So why was he left out?

As free agency begins on Friday at noon, the Flyers have $8.6 million in cap space available, but have to sign Phil Myers and Nolan Patrick as well. That doesn’t leave the Flyers with much room for signing free agents, but they may explore low-risk forward options or look for a defenseman. Here are a few names to watch.

The Blues scored their second goal of the game seconds after a missed tripping call. It proved to be the game-winner in a 2-1 win for the St. Louis Blues over the Boston Bruins on Thursday night. The win puts the Blues one win away from their first Stanley Cup in franchise history.

Entering the third period of Game 4 in a 2-2 tie, Ryan O’Reilly’s second goal of the game proved to be the game-winner as the St. Louis Blues evened the series at two games apiece with a 4-2 win over the Boston Bruins.

Carl Gunnarsson scored on a delayed penalty call at 3:51 of overtime to give the St. Louis Blues a 3-2 win over the Boston Bruins in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final, sending the series back to St. Louis tied, 1-1.

The Columbus Blue Jackets and Carolina Hurricanes both made the playoffs in the two wildcard spots in the East and pulled off upsets of the two division winners in the first round. Now, both teams hold the lead in their respective second round series after three games.

In total, eight goals were scored in the first period between the two teams, including seven in the first 9:41 of the game, as the Flyers fell into a 5-2 deficit by the midpoint of the first period on the way to a 7-3 defeat to the Blues on Thursday night.
