The 2024 NHL Stadium Series marks the sixth outdoor game in Flyers history. A look back at the previous five.
It was a weekend full of festivities, starting with a New Year’s Eve Alumni Game for the ages that featured the return to the ice of many legends for both the Flyers and New York Rangers. Then came the main event on Monday, Jan. 2 where the two division rivals with a lot of history took the ice.
This series was a seven-game showdown that truly went back and forth. When the Flyers had their backs against the wall in Game 6, a late goal flipped the series back around and helped it reach the distance. In the end, just two goals separated the teams in the seven-game series and it was a one-goal margin in Game 7 that decided the series.
They were set to face off against the New York Rangers in the first round of the 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs. In his first season behind the bench was now Flyers head coach Alain Vigneault. What ensued was a battle of a seven-game series that featured ups and downs the entire way. Here is a closer look at the Flyers 2014 playoff series against the Rangers.
Perhaps the fourth time will be the charm. This is not the Flyers first rodeo in an outdoor setting. They have been on this stage three times before, but have yet to get a win.
