On Wednesday, the Flyers made 10 roster cuts, bringing the roster to 24 healthy players and 32 overall. Five players were assigned to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, headlined by forward Morgan Frost. Four more, including Connor Bunnaman, were placed on waivers.
The Lehigh Valley Phantoms saw two players make their return from injury this week, while the NCAA prospects leave their regular seasons behind to focus on conference tournaments. Let’s recap.
The Lehigh Valley Phantoms released their 25-man roster for training camp this past Monday. The Phantoms were scheduled to face off against the Binghamton Devils on Jan. 29, and then against the Hershey Bears on Jan. 31, but both games were postponed to maintain the health and safety of players, coaches, and other game day personnel.
The Flyers announced the next round of cuts on Friday, ahead of what was originally scheduled. In total, 18 players were cut, leaving 36 players remaining on the camp roster.
After three solid skates at practice, the Flyers did appear to put some of the work from practice into action, but for Alain Vigneault, there was more of an opportunity to learn and grow from a preseason-opening 3-1 loss to the Islanders.
