In career game No. 999 on Sunday night, Giroux reached another milestone. A goal in the second period was his 900th career point. Team Sweden – and Flyers prospect Emil Andrae – were eliminated on a last-minute goal in a 3-2 defeat to Finland. Team Canada defeated Czech Republic and Russia defeated Germany to round out the final four teams of the tournament.
Flyers GM Chuck Fletcher had a good first draft because of a move to get back into the second round and move up to take a first-round talent while taking calculated risks on his middle round picks.
