The Philadelphia Flyers are one week into their annual preseason training camp and it would appear that they are well on their way to formalizing their roster from forwards to defense.

The Flyers spent the last two days between their fourth preseason game making additional cuts as they reduce the roster in preparation for the open of the regular season just over two weeks away.

The Philadelphia Flyers evened their preseason record to 2-2 with a 2-0 shutout win on Wednesday night over the New Jersey Devils in front of 7,291 fans at the PPL Center in Allentown.

For the second straight year the Philadelphia Flyers will move a preseason game to the home of their AHL affiliate, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, as they host the New Jersey Devils in their fourth preseason game in three nights on Wednesday night.

Entering training camp, everyone was talking about Ivan Provorov. And for good reason. Of any of the top prospects, Provorov had the highest odds of making the Flyers. But what the Flyers have proven, even over just three preseason games on two nights, is how deep they are defensively in their organization.

The Flyers lost to the Devils, 2-0, and to the Islanders, 3-0, opening the preseason with two shutout losses.

The Flyers open the preseason on Monday night by splitting the camp roster for a pair of games against the New Jersey Devils and New York Islanders, both on the road and both starting at 7 p.m.

The Philadelphia Flyers will now be completed owned by Comcast, as the company will buy the remaining share of the Flyers owned by Ed Snider’s estate to take 100 percent ownership of the franchise.

Team Canada, Team Europe, Team Sweden and Team Russia all advanced to the semi-finals of the tournament, eliminating Team USA, Team North America, Team Finland and Team Czech Republic, meaning Flyers Jake Voracek, Sean Couturier, Shayne Gostisbehere and Michal Neuvirth will be returning to the Flyers much sooner than originally anticipated. Claude Giroux, Mark Streit and Pierre-Edouard Bellemare remain in the tournament.

Flyers prospects Travis Konecny and Ivan Provorov are trying to make decisions difficult for the Flyers as training camp begins on Friday.

The Flyers prospects came away with a 4-0 victory over the Islanders prospects on Wednesday night in a prospect game in East Meadow, NY.

In many eyes, Ivan Provorov is NHL ready, but Ron Hextall holds the keys to the defenseman’s NHL debut, and it’s not a lock that it comes this October.
