The Flyers could have a chance to move into first place in the Metropolitan Division, depending on Saturday’s afternoon’s game between the Capitals and Penguins, when they take on the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday night.

The Flyers took full advantage of a team without their top player and captain. In the first period, they scored three goals in a span of 4:01. In the second period, they added three more in a span of 4:07. That was more than enough in a 6-1 win on Thursday night that continued the team’s incredible run of success on home ice.

The Flyers were the beneficiaries of three goals off Sabres and scored three more on top of that, rolling to a 6-1 win over the Sabres on Thursday night at Wells Fargo Center.

The Flyers remain on home ice for their next game, a Thursday night matchup against the Buffalo Sabres.
