James van Riemsdyk left the game in the first period with an injury. In the third period, trailing 2-0, John Tortorella firmly planted Kevin Hayes and Travis Konecny on the bench, rotating nine forwards for the remainder of the Flyers’ 3-0 loss to the San Jose Sharks.
Before a three-day pause from gameplay, the Flyers close out a back-to-back against the Sharks, a team with just one win in their first seven games.
Injuries, COVID, and everything else aside, the Flyers are not clicking the way they need to. They may be turning the corner in terms of results, but they may be turning into a head-on collision with some of the best teams in the league still ahead on the schedule.

It’s a quick turnaround on Thursday, as the Flyers head to California to finish up the four-game road trip. Their first game comes in San Jose, as they take on the Sharks.
As the market opens, the Flyers are still not finished yet. They will definitely be signing a goalie, likely on the opening day of free agency on Wednesday. Don’t rule out the addition of another forward as well to provide some added depth in that department.
