As training camp begins bright and early on Friday for the Flyers and continues into the weekend with three on-ice sessions each day, here are five things to watch during training camp.

The Islanders rookies were able to turn a 3-0 deficit and 4-2 deficit after two periods into a 4-4 game early in the third. In a shootout, Oliver Wahlstrom scored the only goal to lift the Islanders over the Flyers, 5-4, in the Rookie Game at PPL Center in Allentown on Wednesday night.

The conclusion of Rookie Camp is upon us, as the Flyers prospects will take on the Islanders prospects in a game on Wednesday night at PPL Center in Allentown at 7 p.m.

It may only be a couple of days of practice for the trio of Morgan Frost, Joel Farabee and Isaac Ratcliffe — all turning pro full-time for the 2019-20 season — but the chemistry is starting to form early.

For a few Flyers prospects, Rookie Camp is the beginning of a month-long journey to solidify a roster spot in the NHL. All eyes will be on two forwards in particular: Morgan Frost and Joel Farabee.

The Flyers rookies will be the first to take the ice ahead of the 2019-20 season with Rookie Camp. The camp will run from Saturday, Sept. 7 through Wednesday, Sept. 11, culminating with the Rookie Game between the Flyers rookies and New York Islanders rookies at PPL Center in Allentown.

With the offseason essentially complete except for a few re-signings to come, the guys look at what the Flyers did and analyze the offseason as a whole while also looking at some of the other signings and the teams in the Metropolitan Division and Eastern Conference.

When Monday came and went and the Flyers did nothing but address organizational depth, it was telling. For prospects like Morgan Frost and Joel Farabee, it should be motivating. It means there will be an opportunity to make the Flyers roster this season. There will be an open competition.
