The Flyers celebrate the upcoming induction of Mark Recchi into the Flyers Hall of Fame and 50th anniversary of the 1974 Stanley Cup champion Flyers with an alumni game on Friday.

As the Flyers rebuild, they are also working to repair the culture they were founded on. Saturday’s Ed Snider Legacy Game is another example.

On Thursday, the Flyers announced that Mark Recchi will become the 28th member of the Flyers Hall of Fame in a pregame ceremony held on Saturday, Jan. 27, prior to the team’s game against the Boston Bruins. 

The clear focus of the Flyers draft was on the big picture of the rebuild, drafting for upside. Now, they have time to develop these prospects to the fullest with a new player development team in place.

The Flyers front office now consists of two former players at the top – Keith Jones and Danny Briere – with Patrick Sharp and John LeClair in advisory roles. The names may be different, but the pedigree is the same.

The Flyers announced on Thursday that they have hired John LeClair as a Special Advisor to Hockey Operations.

The finalists for the Flyers Hall of Fame were named on Tuesday morning, with six members of the Flyers long and storied franchise being up for possible induction later this season. Here’s a closer look at the six and their case to join the names in the rafters.

It was a weekend full of festivities, starting with a New Year’s Eve Alumni Game for the ages that featured the return to the ice of many legends for both the Flyers and New York Rangers. Then came the main event on Monday, Jan. 2 where the two division rivals with a lot of history took the ice.

The bad blood between the Flyers and Ottawa Senators was still fresh from a game just eight days earlier, so when the teams met on March 5, 2004, it would become a historic night in a very different way.

The Flyers have named Lindros an official team ambassador. As part of the partnership, Lindros will be in Philadelphia constantly for community events, fan appearances and corporate partner engagements, once the season is able to resume.

After the Eric Lindros-led went through Mario Lemieux and the Penguins, another passing of the torch took place when the Flyers faced the Rangers in the conference final. Here is a closer look at the 1997 Eastern Conference Final between the Flyers and Rangers.

In the 2000 Eastern Conference semi-finals against Pittsburgh, the Flyers fell into a hole and were one mistake away from facing the near-impossible 3-0 deficit. An unlikely hero emerged and gave the Flyers some life. When the Flyers evened the series up in an all-time classic game, all momentum had shifted for good. The Flyers rolled back at home and finished off the series in six games.

This series was a seven-game showdown that truly went back and forth. When the Flyers had their backs against the wall in Game 6, a late goal flipped the series back around and helped it reach the distance. In the end, just two goals separated the teams in the seven-game series and it was a one-goal margin in Game 7 that decided the series.

Sean Couturier scored another hat trick for the Flyers, while Carter Hart stopped a career-high 39 shots in a 4-3 Flyers win over the Boston Bruins on Wednesday night at Wells Fargo Center.
