On Saturday, the Flyers released their roster and schedule for training camp ahead of the 2020-21 season, set to begin in just 11 days.
The Flyers announced the next round of cuts on Friday, ahead of what was originally scheduled. In total, 18 players were cut, leaving 36 players remaining on the camp roster.
The end results have not been as desired to start the preseason, but that means very little before the regular season. There are no points on the line and rosters are not fully constructed. All you had to do was look at the two rosters in Tuesday’s game on the road for the Flyers to see the disparity.
The Islanders scored with 1:34 left in the third to force overtime and won the game in the final minute of overtime, defeating the Flyers, 3-2, on Tuesday night in Long Island.
Following Monday’s preseason opener, a 3-1 loss to the Islanders, the Flyers will get right back on the ice for another preseason tilt on Tuesday night on the road against the Islanders.
Flyers development camp wrapped up with a 3-on-3 tournament on Friday evening and a 5-on-5 scrimmage and shootout on Saturday evening.
The Flyers have returned three players to juniors: Matthew Strome, Maksim Sushko and Wyatte Wylie. In addition, goalie Liam Hughes was removed from his amateur tryout.
It was difficult to find many positives out of this game, a 3-0 loss for the Flyers to the Islanders, and an injury to Travis Sanheim only added to it.
