Toronto scored three goals in the second period to turn Sunday’s game into a rout, as the Flyers four-game winning streak was snapped in a 6-2 loss to the Maple Leafs.

The competition gets tougher once again, as the Flyers start a busy week ahead with Sunday night’s game against the Toronto Maple Leafs. 

Perhaps everyone on the outside of the series is making a bigger deal out of the goaltending matchup than the two teams and, individually, the two netminders are. But Carter Hart has come into the playoffs and replicated his performance from the regular season. And then in typical fashion, he has acted like it’s no big deal.

The Flyers came away with the win as Scott Laughton scored on a breakaway at 2:40 of overtime to give the Flyers the 3-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins in an exhibition game on Tuesday afternoon.

The Flyers get a rivalry matchup against the Pittsburgh Penguins, quite the way to make their return to the ice for the first time in nearly five months. Game time is 4 p.m.

With 10 games remaining on the schedule, it remains to be seen if the Flyers take this win and turn it into some magical last-gasp playoff run that gets them in, but it kept their playoff hopes alive for now.

A power-play goal, an unlikely goal and a heroic goal by the captain turned a 3-1 deficit late into a 4-3 win in the 2019 Stadium Series over the Penguins. For now, it keeps the Flyers in the playoff race when it all looked like the end. It’s the biggest win of the season for the Flyers, who for one night, gave nearly 70,000 people a chance to celebrate.

Claude Giroux scored at 1:59 of overtime to seal a 4-3 win over the Penguins, after the Flyers completed a two-goal comeback in the final four minutes of the third, giving the Flyers the win in the 2019 Stadium Series at Lincoln Financial Field on Saturday night.

The Flyers and Penguins are ready to take it outside. Lincoln Financial Field serves as the backdrop as the Flyers look to keep any playoff hopes remaining alive in their final game before the all-important trade deadline. 

It hasn’t happened often in the 18 games that Hart has started at the NHL level, but the rookie and the Flyers were out-dueled by the better goaltender. Matt Murray made 50 saves to keep the Flyers at bay in a 4-1 loss to the Penguins that stings, history aside. It marks a serious blow to any playoff hopes the Flyers had left.

The Flyers finished the game with 51 shots, including a franchise record 28 shots in the second period alone, but had only one goal to show for it as Matt Murray made 50 saves and the Penguins picked up a 4-1 win over the Flyers on Monday night at Wells Fargo Center.

Since Jan. 3, the Flyers deficit in the standings to the cross-state rival Pittsburgh Penguins has dropped from 18 points to just six. The two teams meet three more times, starting with a game at Wells Fargo Center on Monday.
