Following an offseason of change, training camp has finally arrived for the 2021-22 Philadelphia Flyers. With that, we look at five questions facing the Flyers as camp begins.

Kevin Hayes had abdominal surgery on Tuesday morning and will be out 6-to-8 weeks as a result. Sam Morin is out for 6-to-8 weeks following a right knee surgery to have loose bodies removed on Sept. 10. Wade Allison is out indefinitely with a right ankle sprain.

The Flyers 3-2 loss to the New York Rangers rookie squad was secondary to the potential loss of Wade Allison, who exited in the second period with an apparent leg injury. There was no update on his status postgame.

In the first of two games this weekend against the Rangers to close out Rookie Camp, the Flyers picked up a 6-3 win on Saturday.

Joel Farabee and the Flyers have agreed to a six-year contract extension worth $30 million, an average annual value of $5 million, Fletcher announced on Thursday. The contract begins in the 2022-23 season.

While this development camp is really not the place to do full evaluations of players and where they stand in their journey to the NHL, it is a chance to see their skills up close. Over the weekend, the last piece of business for the Flyers this offseason came complete. Maybe. With five days remaining until a scheduled arbitration date, the last remaining arbitration-eligible player in the league without a contract, the Flyers and defenseman Travis Sanheim reached agreement on a two-year deal with an AAV of $4.675 million on Saturday afternoon.

The Flyers didn’t come back in waves, but trimmed away the lead and completed the rally with just over two minutes left in regulation, resulting in arguably their most impressive win of the season.

The Flyers were back on Tuesday for practice with a limited group and more players are expected to rejoin the team on Wednesday ahead of Thursday’s game against the New York Rangers. The Flyers also had five games rescheduled by the NHL in the wake of COVID-19 caused postponements.

On both Saturday and Sunday, the Flyers list remained at seven players, but Sunday brought a new addition in Travis Konecny. Travis Sanheim, the player who was first to be placed on the list last Sunday, was removed from the list.
