The Flyers have shown signs of improvement in the process of late, but after finding ways to win on the back of their netminder, they are finding ways to lose. They carry a five-game losing streak into Saturday’s game in the Montreal Canadiens.

Like the Flyers, the Montreal Canadiens come into Thursday’s game with losses in six straight games.

In career game No. 999 on Sunday night, Giroux reached another milestone. A goal in the second period was his 900th career point. At the time, it put the Flyers in the lead of a game they went on to allowing the tying goal in the final minute of regulation and fall to the Montreal Canadiens, 4-3, in overtime at Wells Fargo Center.

Just over 24 hours after completing a 3-1 loss in Carolina to close out a two-game trip, the Flyers go from facing two of the top three teams in the league to the league’s worst team, the Montreal Canadiens. 

The Flyers and Canadiens meet for the first time since the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs on Thursday night, as the Flyers go for a fourth straight win.

The Flyers technically have the 14th overall pick in Friday’s first round of the NHL Draft. However, they will make the 13th selection. While it is not a Top 10 pick, a year of uncertainty, unpredictability and limited viewings of prospects could certainly leave some finds at the middle of the first round.

Following the NHL Draft Lottery on Wednesday night, the Flyers will have the 13th overall pick at the NHL Draft on July 23.

Some dirty but good goals and a 31-save effort by Carter Hart were the difference, as the Flyers claimed Game 6, 3-2, over the Montreal Canadiens, advancing to the second round of the playoffs.

Both the Flyers and Canadiens will be without key players in Friday’s Game 6, and it should be an energetic affair that fits the mold of playoff hockey at its finest. Game 6 is set for 7 p.m.
