The Blue Jackets claimed a 4-3 win over the Flyers on Thursday night as Seth Jones scored with 32.3 seconds remaining in the overtime.
Perhaps the fourth time will be the charm. This is not the Flyers first rodeo in an outdoor setting. They have been on this stage three times before, but have yet to get a win.
The Flyers won in overtime, 6-5. In the end, it doesn’t matter how the points come, as long as they keep coming. The Flyers finished the game with 51 shots, including a franchise record 28 shots in the second period alone, but had only one goal to show for it as Matt Murray made 50 saves and the Penguins picked up a 4-1 win over the Flyers on Monday night at Wells Fargo Center.
The Flyers handled the struggling Ducks with four first-period goals and never looked back, picking up their 10th win in the last 12 games to keep the line moving.
Behind four first-period goals, the Flyers extended their points streak to 10 games, picking up a 6-2 win over the Ducks on Saturday afternoon.
The Flyers continue a five-game homestand with a game against the Anaheim Ducks. The Ducks have been in complete free-fall mode, with just two wins in their last 20 games.
The Flyers played a game against the Kings that was sloppy and frustrating. Yet, there they were, playing in overtime. The overtime featured its share of near-misses as well. The winning streak is over, and now the Flyers need to regroup or their comeback effort this season will fizzle out.
