Reigning National League MVP Bryce Harper was hit by a pitch Saturday by San Diego Padres starter Blake Snell. Harper fractured his thumb.

Philadelphia Phillies reliever Mark Appel, the 1st overall pick in the 2013 MLB Draft, moved from starter to reliever and it reignited his career. Appel is likely to make his Major League Baseball debut over the weekend against the San Diego Padres.
