Chuck Fletcher should have seen enough. Changes to the roster don’t happen all at once or overnight, but instead of looking for ways to save this season, the Flyers should turn focus on selling where they can and making preparations for next season and beyond.
If the Flyers did everything they could to eliminate chances in front of Carter Hart in the first two games of his career, they didn’t do him any favors in his third game. Hart was left in difficult position, needing to recover from the shortcomings the Flyers had early in the season, in a 4-3 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Things get a little normal for the Flyers again — no major changes before this home game — as they prepare to face one of the West’s best. The Nashville Predators are in town, providing a test for a team that may still be fragile from a lot of changes.
A clean slate for the Orange and Black rings in a new era for the team, one where they can hopefully move on from the identity of inconsistency. It won’t happen overnight, but the many changes — and the magnitude of them — ushers in a new era for the team as they begin the road ahead under GM Chuck Fletcher and interim head coach Scott Gordon.

In a time where there was a lot of newness and a clean slate for the franchise, the two newest members of the Flyers helped deliver a winning formula.
Carter Hart made 20 saves, Shayne Gostisbehere and James van Riemsdyk had two points each and Gordon got his first win as Flyers head coach, defeating the Detroit Red Wings, 3-2, on Tuesday night at Wells Fargo Center.
In his media availability after the move, GM Chuck Fletcher also announced that Scott Gordon would be the interim head coach, and that his role could last through the remainder of the 2018-19 season.
The reports started to surface as the team was in the air on the way back from Vancouver after a five-game road trip. Now the news is official. Dave Hakstol is no longer the Flyers head coach.
The next major change has apparently. Following a dismal road trip that included losses in the final four games, the Flyers will fire Dave Hakstol as head coach and hire Joel Quenneville, according to a report from Dave Isaac of the Courier Post.
