After the career year Couturier had in 2017-18 season, putting up new career highs in points, solidifying himself as the first-line center, and continuing to be a shutdown force, not to mention being a finalist for the Selke Trophy, could we see the same from him in the 2018-19 season and for the rest of his career?

Round 2 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs came to a close with the Vegas Golden Knights, Tampa Bay Lightning, Washington Capitals and Winnipeg Jets advancing to the Conference Finals.

For several teams who have been waiting since finishing off their series, the second round is set to begin as soon as Thursday night. In this week’s trip Around the NHL, we look at who has advanced and the four series on tap in the second round.

While it is hard to imagine a scenario where the Flyers take no penalties during the series against the Pittsburgh Penguins, their penalty kill is going to have to come through for them.

It comes down to this. — Game 82 for the Philadelphia Flyers to try to clinch a playoff berth for the first time since 2016. And if they win, they are in the playoffs. Ultimately, it means the Flyers are in control of their own destiny when it comes to clinching a playoff spot.

As the Flyers prepare to play in Game 81 against Carolina on Thursday night, there are a wave of scenarios the Flyers are facing as the playoffs draw closer.

For the Flyers, the importance of depth scoring is key for them to get into the playoffs. The team needs to have players like Jordan Weal, Scott Laughton and Matt Read — among others — to step up and help put up points.

The second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs opened on Wednesday night with two of the four series getting underway. The remaining two started on Thursday. In the first game of each thing, one thing was apparent from the get-go: these are going to be truly excellent series from start to finish.

The first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs presented many close series, including a record-setting 18 games to go to overtime in the first round of the playoffs. All eight series came to a close by Sunday night, setting the stage for the second round.

Following Thursday night’s games, three series have come to a close with three teams advancing to the second round of the playoffs and marking the end of the season for three others. That leaves five series still locked in tight, competitive battle as the weekend hits.

The first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs is in full swing, with each series now three games in. For a handful of teams, they have a stranglehold on the series, poised to move on to the second round. For others, some great finishes to series are on tap. Here’s an update on each series.

The Philadelphia Flyers missed out on the playoffs by eight points this past season. However, if they won a few key games, they would have had gained the 10 points needed to clinch a postseason position.
